Keep Close Eye On Your Kids, Says Mom Of New Canaan Boy Who Died From Flu On the eve of his funeral, the mother of the 10-year-old Fairfield County boy who died from complications of the flu is urging parents to keep a close eye on their children amid one of the most active flu seasons in years. Nico Mallozzi, who began feeling ill Thursday, Jan. 11, traveled with his youth hockey team (the Norwalk-based Connecticut Roughriders) to a tournament in Buffalo that weekend, but did not play. Services Set For Nico Mallozzi, 10, Of New Canaan NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Nico Antonio Mallozzi, age 10 of New Canaan, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 14.   He was the beloved son of Joseph and Mimma Mallozzi of New Canaan. Nico was born in Norwalk on December 1, 2007. Known for his spirit and vitality, he was an avid hockey player, spending most days in the company of his much-loved team, the CTRoughRiders.
