Protests Lead To Closure Of I-95 Stretch In Norwalk A stretch of I-95 in Fairfield County has shut down amid protests over police-related deaths. The closure, early Saturday evening, June 6, is northbound between Exit 15 and Exit 16. Just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Norwalk Police said there were now road closures now in the area of South Main Street near police headquarters, and motorists should avoid the area. Roadway Reopens After Large Protest This story has been updated. A stretch of I-84 has reopened after hundreds protesting police-related deaths entered the highway. The closure, in both directions, was between exits 4 and 5 in Danbury on Wednesday, June 3 and lasted about an hour, starting just before 2:30 p.m. The protest began on Main Street early in the afternoon with more than 1,000 people. A smaller amount, but still in the hundreds, then proceeded to the interstate. Other protests are planned for this afternoon in Fairfield County in New Canaan and Stamford.
