Five Fairfield County Stores Among Payless Closures Another iconic retailer is going out of business. Payless ShoeSource will be closing all of its 2,100 remaining stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The chain had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection nearly two years ago, closing hundreds of stores as part of its reorganization. Liquidation sales start Sunday, Feb. 17 with all stores staying open until the end of March with many others remaining in business until May. Bridgeport Man Charged In NY State Police New Year's DWI Detail New York State Police troopers busted two dozen local motorists over the New Year holiday weekend who were allegedly driving while impaired in the area. The local residents charged were: Westchester County On Saturday, Dec. 29, State Police troopers from Brewster arrested Gideon Taub, 28, of Dobbs Ferry, for DWI. He was traveling on Route 22 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, and he was subsequently arrested. Taub was also arrested on Dec. 22, 2018, for DWI after being stopped on Ro…

2.2 Magnitude Earthquake Reported Near Northern Westchester/Putnam Border Storm Watch: Latest Update On Timing, Projected Snow/Ice Totals Did you feel it? A 2.2 magnitude earthquake was reported early Wednesday morning near the Northern Westchester/Putnam about 3 miles north, northwest of Mohegan Lake. The earthquake was reported at 6:14 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.  The quake’s epicenter was in Crofts Corner in Putnam Valley, and located 7.7 miles from Jefferson Valley and 9 miles from Peekskill, according to the USGS.
