Beloved School Crossing Guard In Trumbull Calls It A Career After spending some 37 years helping Trumbull children safely cross the streets on their way to school, a beloved crossing guard is calling it a career. A lifelong Trumbull resident, Shirley Sagliano, began her career as the crossing guard in September 1987. On Wednesday, June 12, she strapped on her vest and walked the last child across the street, said Trumbull Police Lt. Brain Weir. Sagliano developed an interest in the crossing guard position from a friend of hers who was already working as one.
