The incident occurred in New Haven County around 10 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, at the LVL Up Smoke Shop in Meriden. According to Lt. K9 Sammy, who is certified with the National Police Canine Association, was welcomed to the department on Monday, Sept. 16. She is also certified with the Connecticut Police Work Dog Association as an Explosive Detection Police Service Dog and a certified Military Working Dog with the Department of Defense. K9 Officer Helps Catch Teen Car-Theft Suspect On I-84  A State Police K9 helped troopers nab a suspected car thief after he helped track down the man as he ran following a pursuit that ended with his tires flattened by stop sticks.  The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when state police received a report of a stolen car in Danbury.
