Elmer was assigned to Detective David Collins of the Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit.  K-9 Elmer, who was 6 years old, was laid to rest on Saturday, July 6, due to medical complications. Det. Nick Aranzullo, who started with the department in 2005, was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2009, Lt. Aranzullo assisted with the coordination of the K-9 program and formed the department’s first K-9 unit with canine partner “Zulu.” Lt. That's what happened the other morning when the department was helping another agency capture a wanted person from a home, the Wilton Police K-9 Unit said on Facebook. The wanted person was refusing to come out, so they were told that K-9 Baso would come inside to get them, and then Baso barked a little. The person agreed to come out if the officers held the dog.
