20-Year-Old From Norwalk Surrenders After Causing Reckless Driving Crash In Darien, Police Say A 20-year-old man accused of causing a single-car crash in Fairfield County has surrendered to police more than a month later. The wreck happened Sunday, Sept. 3, in Darien on Hollow Tree Ridge Road near Allwood Road, according to Darien Police. An investigation found that Griffin Makovsky, of Norwalk, was speeding and ran a stop sign before crashing over a rock wall and striking a tree. No other vehicles were involved and there were no reports of injuries. On Saturday Oct. 21, Makovsky turned himself in on an active arrest warrant stemming from the crash. Liar, Liar, House On Fire: Darien Woman Arrested For False Reporting, Police Say A Connecticut woman was nabbed by police months after she allegedly lied about a house fire, authorities announced. On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Fairfield County resident Courtenay Evans, age 26, turned herself in for the incident, which happened in July 2023, according to Darien County Police. Evans, who lives in Darien, reportedly called 911 on July 23, 2023, to report that a house was on fire across the street from her home on Chasmars Pond Road. Alleged Darien Attempted Car Thief Nabbed After Owner Spots Him, Police Say A 22-year-old man was charged with allegedly attempting to burglarize or steal a vehicle after the owner spotted him. The incident took place in Darien around 9 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 8 at a home on Post Road. According to Darien Police Sgt.
