4-CT Earns Emmy Nomination
Entertainment news shows always like to ask stars where they were when they learned they were nominated for an Emmy award. Some actors talk about being woken up by early morning calls from agents with the news; others mention popping champagne corks in celebration. It was a little less glamorous when Nutmeggers Preetha Nooyi and Ted Yang heard about their Emmy nod. They got an email. Facing competition from three television news teams, Nooyi and Yang are nominated for Writer, Short-Form Content at this year’s (virtual) 44th Annual National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Boston/N…

4-CT Announces New Leadership As It Continues Its Outreach And Expands Its Mission
When Don Kendall and Ted Yang founded 4-CT — the Connecticut Covid-19 Charity Connection — in March of 2020 just as an international pandemic was declared, they never expected the organization to continue past a short-term need. What they and 4-CT have seen in a year's time is that help is still needed even as COVID (hopefully) wanes. While the organization has strived to help those most impacted by the COVID crisis in Connecticut with its innovative 4-CT Card and equity vaccine program, it has also learned that the same population will require long-term aid to right systemic inequities th…

4-CT Card Emergency Assistance Program Looks Beyond
Covid-
19
When 4-CT began a year ago (see "4-CT Quickly Makes An Impact, Granting $1 Million Total To Foodshare, Connecticut Foodbank"), its immediate goal was to help those most impacted by COVID-19 — those who lost childcare and jobs and struggled to pay bill and put food on the table. Over $20 million was raised and distributed via the 4-CT’s partners, community foundations and local non-profits. Proving most effective of all, is 4-CT’s Card Program, ("4-CT Card Has Most Impact In Helping CT Residents During The Pandemic") an innovative endeavor that puts debit cards in the hands of those who need …

Fairfield County Group Raises Money For Undocumented People, Coronavirus Help Coming From CT
No federal stimulus check is coming for unemployed undocumented workers now in the third month of having to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. There's no state aid either. They can't apply for unemployment and are not eligible for SNAP benefits. Knowing this harsh reality for many of its local citizens, a Fairfield County citizens group mobilized to try to help families out. The Norwalk Immigrant Community Emergency Fund organized by Unidad Latina Norwalk (ULA) has raised $2,000 of a $50,000 goal since it established a GoFundMe on May 8. Wesleyan University student and pa…

4-CT Quickly Makes An Impact, Granting $1 Million Total To Foodshare, Connecticut Foodbank
In the past month well over a quarter-million unemployment claims have been filed in the state of Connecticut amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The financial strain many face has led to unprecedented calls on the state’s food banks, who are working diligently with fewer volunteers to deliver groceries to the many more in need. 4-CT, the Connecticut COVID-19 Charity Connection, a Fairfield County-based independent 501-(c)3 organization launched April 1 that provides financial support to nonprofits serving all areas impacted by COVID-19, has proven pivotal to Foodshare and Con…

19: 4-CT, Newly Formed Charitable Organization, Raises $10M From Donors
A group of Connecticut-based philanthropists has established a charitable organization to raise new support for the state’s nonprofit organizations that are serving those impacted by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The organization, called 4-ct.org, said it launched in recognition of the considerable demand on resources the public health emergency is having on nearly every aspect of life across the state. It already raised $10 million prior to its announced launch on Wednesday, April 1. The Connecticut COVID-19 Charity Connection – also known as 4-CT – is an independent, 501(c)3…
