Zeus Swimmers Shine at Norwalk Meet

Joshue Balderrama won eight events to lead strong performances by the Zeus swim team at the Pat Spinola Invitational last weekend at Norwalk High School.

Joshue, competing in the boys 10-and-under events, won the 500 free, 50 breast, 50 back, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 200 free.

Other multiple winners for the Norwalk-based club included Guido Balderrama, who won four events in the 11-12-year-old division; Lauren Czulwicz in the girls 13-14 division; Stephanie Czulwicz, 15, in the women's division; Lauren Daignault, 8, a three-time winner in the 10-and-under girls division; Eddie Donovan in the 13-14-year-old boys division; Olivia Haskell in the women's 13-14-year-old division; Meredith Pramer, 17, in the women's division; and Catherine Sheehan in the 8-and-under division;.

Single-event winners included Lucas Balderrama, Melissa Burnham, Brian Cardona, Paige Delago and Patrick MacDonald.

Other meet highlights for Zeus included GianCarlo Ceci's double-digit improvement in three races in the boys 13-14-year-old division; Rachel Helisch, who dropped by double figures in three races and improved times in seven events; Nicholas LaSala, 13, who improved in seven races; Alejandro Ramos, who dropped times in three events; Emily Reinoso, 11, who dropped times in five events (four by double digits); Pamela Reinso, 8, who improved in seven events; Abigal Roller, 11, who improved in five races and Joseph Sepuca, 11, who improved in six races, three by more than 15 seconds.

The three-day meet featured 11 teams and approximately 350 swimmers. The eighth annual meet is named after the former Norwalk High School athletic director.
