WESTPORT, Conn. Jeff Zarrilli led a record 149 finishers across the finish line Saturday in the 49th annual Westport Summer Series 6.8-mile race at Compo Beach.
It was the fourth race in the series this summer with a record number of finishers, topping the previous high of 134 set 2006.
Zarrilli, of Darien, cruised home in 39:22, followed by Luke McCambley and David Mortner, both of Westport. Stamford's Jeff Watson finished fourth.
Wilton's Mary Dolan Zengo won the women's race in 46:05. It was her third victory of the summer in the series.
There are three more races in the 10-event series, including an 8.4 mile run Saturday at 8 a.m. at Burying Hill Beach. The series concludes with a 10-mile race on Sept. 3 at Staples High School. Complete information is available on the Westport Road Runners website.
