Young Wrestlers Wrap Up Successful Season

In the Mad Bull Wrestling Team's first season under the direction of coach Randy Haus, five wrestlers made it to the Connecticut Youth Wrestling championships. Jeff Cocchia placed second and Randy Mateo placed fourth. Jakari Walker, Robert Lewis Zimmerman and Connor Madden also wrestled well in the tournament.

Two weeks earlier, nine Mad Bull wrestlers competed in a tournament in Thomaston. Mateo, Robert Myer, Joey Haus, Anthony Haus and Cocchia earned gold medals. Quint Bartush and Walker captured silvers and Joseph Malagisi won a bronze. Second-grader Sean Donnelly, competing against wrestlers much older than himself, earned a fourth-place finish by winning his first match of the season in overtime, much to the delight of the fans who were pulling for the "Little Bull."

“I am very proud of all these first-year wrestlers for stepping up and competing well in tournaments and the Connecticut championships against wrestlers with many more years of experience. Much of the credit has to go to coaches Art Schad and David Slapin, who have tirelessly volunteered their time and energy in practice getting the kids prepared.”  Coach Haus said.
