Rowayton's Cameron Wilson advanced to the next round in qualifying for golf's U.S. Open by finishing third in a local qualifier Wednesday at Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale, N.Y. Wilson shot a one-over-par 72 to secure one of the six berths in the sectional qualifier on June 7.
Wilson, a senior at St. Luke's in New Canaan, will attend Stanford University in the fall. Mark McCormick of Middletown, N.J. earned medalist honors with a 70. Norwalk's Michael Dominici narrowly missed advancing. He shot 74 and was one shot out of a playoff for the final two qualifying berths.
