Westport Soccer Tournament Ready To Kick Off

The 30th Westport Invitational Tournament kicks off Saturday with nearly 100 teams playing in boys and girls soccer competition. Girls teams play on Saturday and boys teams go on Sunday, in games at Staples High School. The games are 24 minutes and teams compete in age divisions from under-9 to under-18.

Teams from Westport and Norwalk are competing in the tournament along with squads from New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Games are played indoors and outdoors.

Tournament proceeds benefit the Coleman Brothers Foundation. Keith and Scott Coleman, who played in the Westport Soccer Association, died in the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. For more tournament information, go to http://www.westportsoccer.org
