Undefeated Darien Takes On Wilton

Undefeated Darien travels to meet Wilton Friday at 6 p.m. to kick off a big weekend of action in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The grid contest is one of five league games Friday night as teams start to separate themselves in the race for the league and state playoffs.

Darien (3-0) has been impressive defensively in the first few weeks of the season. The Blue Wave are coming off a 13-10 win over St. Joseph and have surrendered just 23 points in three games. The Blue Wave are led offensively by running back Peter Gesauldi (6.72 yards per carry) and quarterback Chris Allam (439 yards passing, four touchdowns). Wilton (1-2) beat St. Joseph, 27-14, in the second week of the season. The Warriors have suffered two close losses, to Trumbull (13-9) and New London (16-9 in overtime). The Warriors have a balanced running attack featuring Ned Hemmerle, Sean Carroll and Clay Helms.

In other games on Friday, Norwalk travels to Stamford for a 6 p.m. kickoff. Also at 6 p.m., Brien McMahon hosts Bassick and Trumbull meets Bridgeport Central. In 7 p.m. games, Greenwich hosts Danbury and Fairfield Warde hosts New Canaan.

In Saturday action, Westhill visits Staples at 2 p.m., Fairfield Ludlowe meets Harding at 2:30 p.m., Trinity Catholic plays at St. Joseph at 3 and Ridgefield visits Wilbur Cross, also at 3.

In Southern Connecticut Conference action, Fairfield Prep travels to Jonathan Law at 7 p.m. on Friday. Also on Friday, Joel Barlow travels to Stratford for a South-West Conference game at 7 p.m.

Weston hosts Immaculate Saturday at 3 p.m. in a South-West Conference clash. In private school contests, Brunswick plays at Kent at 3:30 p.m.; King hosts Hopkins at 3 p.m. and St. Luke's visits Kingswood-Oxford at 3:30 p.m.
