McMahon Baseball Opens State Tournament at Home

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Despite a rich tradition for baseball in Fairfield County, the past 10 years have not been kind to local teams at the state level. In the past decade, just four squads from Fairfield County have taken home the state's top hardball prize out of 40 possible championships. Twelve teams will try to change that recent trend as the four state tournaments begin Tuesday.

Teams in playoffs from the Daily Voice Fairfield County readership area are listed below. The first and second round games will be played at the higher seeded team's home field. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played at a neutral site and the championship games will be played at Palmer Field in Middletown.
