Stamford-based Arena Gymnastics athletes won more than 40 individual and team awards at the Rhode Island Invitational last weekend. For the second consecutive week, Arena's Level 4, 5 and 6 compulsory girls teams won their team titles and also turned in gold-medal performances.
The Level 6 team won its second straight gold medal behind performances by 11 year-olds Ashlyn Wahl (Greenwich) and Kate Kushner (New Canaan), 12 year-olds Bianca Dinisoe (Norwalk) and Eliza Donavan (Westport) and 13 year-old Ilana Olin (Wilton).
For the 11s, Wahl won gold in the all-around with a total of 37.525. She finished first in the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise with a score 9.75. Kushner nabbed bronze in the all-around with silver medal performances on bars and balance beam. For the 12s, Dinisoe (36.10) took first in the all-around, highlighted by a first place finish on bars (9.475), while Donovan captured silver on bars with a score of 9.2. Olin (36.25) won the all-around for the 13s by taking gold on beam and floor.
Level 5 took home team silver and was led by 10-year-olds Sophia Casio (Stamford), who grabbed gold in the all-around by winning floor and beam, and Sarah Klein (Old Greenwich), who took bronze on floor. Nine-year-old Jessie Olin (Wilton) also contributed by taking bronze on bars.
Level 4 also came away with team silver. They were led by 7-year-olds Carlee Reid (Stamford) and Natalie Dayton (Old Greenwich), 8-year-old Julia Servas (Darien), 9-year- old Alana Foodman (Redding), and 10-year-old Ellie Marino (Riverside).
For 7-year-old gymnasts, Reid (37.075) took first in the all-around by winning gold in vault, bars and floor, while Dayton (35.525) grabbed bronze in the all-around, highlighted by a second-place finish in vault. For the 8-year-olds, Servas (36.450) took silver in the all-around with a gold medal performance on floor. For the 9s, Foodman (37.20) won gold for all-around, and for the 10s, Marino (37.75) won gold in the all-around with first place in bars, beam and floor.
