SportsFest Features Norwalk Stars

Two champion athletes from Norwalk will sign autographs when the sixth annual Park City SportsFest gets underway Saturday in downtown Bridgeport. Presented by People’s United Bank, the event runs from 1-5 p.m. SportsFest is tied in with the 2011 MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, which start Thursday. This year's SportsFest will be in a large, heated tent at the corner of Frontage Road and Main Street.

Travis Simms and Idris Price will get the festivities started.  Simms, a former world boxing champion, will be signing free autographs from 1-1:30 p.m. and Price, who had a standout pro football career, including earning a Super Bowl XXXVII ring with the Tampa Bay Bucs in 2003, will sign from 1-2 p.m. Price also was on the World Bowl champion Frankfurt Galaxy in the NFL Europe league and spent six years playing in the Arena Football League.

ParkCity SportsFest is a free event designed for family fun. The fan festival includes interactive and educational activities from an assortment of sports and fitness-related organizations. Already committed to participate are the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Bridgeport Bluefish, Walter Camp Football Foundation, The First Tee youth golf, Martial Arts Spirit Academy and Simone Lima's Zumba program. Music and entertainment will also be part of SportsFest, and food vendors will be on site.
