Shannon Singleton-Bates scored 21 points for the Francis Marion University womens basketball team, but the Patriots lost Saturday in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Tusculum College won, 103-96, in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
Singleton-Bates, a junior from Norwalk, scored 17 points in a 103-96 win over Newberry College in a first-round game on Friday. She was a first-team selection in the Peach Belt Conference and led the team in scoring with an average of 16.0 points per game. The Patriots finished 27-5.
