Saugatuck Crews Medal at National Regatta

Two Saugatuck Rowing Club teams took home medals from the top flights of finals Sunday at the U.S. Youth Nationals at Oak Ridge, Tenn. Saugatuck Rowing Club is based in Westport and includes rowers from many Fairfield County communities.

Westport's Max Meyer-Bosse and Graham Anderson finished second in the Men's Youth 2x A Final. In the Women's Youth 4x A Final, Westport's Susan Greenberg, Fairfield's Melly Markovic, Westport's Louisa Freeman and Fairfield's Alexa Zadravec finished third. Connecticut-based GMS Rowing won the gold.

Meyer-Bosse also finished fourth in the Men's Youth 1x A final. In the Women's Lightweight Youth 8+ B Final, Saugatuck finished sixth with Marisa Horn, Georgia Pinter, May Schumer, Jo Gurman, Connor Cashel, Celine Bondoc, Sarah Frear and Samantha Powers.

In the Men's Youth 8+ C Final, Saugatuck captured second with Remi Amadei, Max Gibson, Chris Babinec, Jake Petterson, Jake Esse, John Morrison, Griffin Traynor, Alex Vogt and Gregory Zales.

"It was a good weekend of racing,'' Saugatuck coach Sharon Kriz said. "The competition was tough! We're really proud of how well all of our athlete handled the heat [around 90 degrees] and how well they represented the team and our hard work."
