FAIRFIELD, Conn. ? The Pequot Runners' Thanksgiving Day five-mile race has become as much a part of the local holiday tradition as football and feasting with the family. More than 5,000 runners and walkers are expected for this year's event, which starts at 8:15 a.m. Thursday.
To prepare for the crowd, volunteers from the Pequot Runners spent Sunday morning adhering identification labels to several thousand race bibs, while another crew ran the course, dropping notices at homes along the route.
Pre-race check-in and registration will be held Monday through Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club on Center Street in Southport. For further information and to register online, go to the Pequot website.
