Runners Hit the Road Sunday

Runners will head to the starting line Sunday in Darien for the 31st annual Darien Road Race. There is a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) race and a 1.5-mile fun run. The races begin at 1 p.m.

Last year, 329 runners finished the 10-k, which was won by former Darien High running standout Chase Pizzonia. Kate Lyons of Darien won the women's event.

Proceeds of the race benefit the Community Fund of Darien, the Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford and the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital. Race day registration is $30.
