Runners Can Get Memorial Day Fixx in Greenwich

The Jim Fixx Memorial Day 5-Mile run begins at 8:15 a.m. Monday in downtown Greenwich. A half-mile race for kids will be held at the nearby Havemeyer track.

The entry fees for the 5-mile race are $20 pre-entry and $25 on the morning of the race. The entry fees for the Kids' Half-Mile Race are $10 pre-entry and $15 on the morning of the race.

Last year's 5-mile run had 349 finishers and was won by Ryan Hopkins of Greenwich with a time of 27:01. Kristen Bates of Greenwich was the women's champion and 21st overall with a 32:59. A total of 116 youngsters finished in the several heats of the half-mile races.

This is the third event in this year's Volvo of Stamford Greenwich Cup series of 10 events.

Future events include the Whole Foods Cook Your Buns Run & Barbecue (3-mile race and 1-mile kids' race) at 6:30 p.m. June 10 and the Greenwich Point Swim (1 mile) at 7:30 a.m. July 9. Both of those events take place at Tod's Point in Old Greenwich.
