Run, Ride and Swim This Weekend

Recreational athletes can run, swim and bike, sometimes in combination, in a busy weekend of races throughout Fairfield County.

Triathletes young and old will do all three Saturday and Sunday at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. The Mini Mossman Youth Triathlon begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mossman Sprint Triathlon for adults goes off at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Sunday race is sold out. Gus Ellison of Rowayton won the men's event in 2010, and Reilly Kiernan of Pelham, N.Y., was the women's overall champion.

Swimmers will get an early start Saturday for the 1-mile Greenwich Point Swim. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. More information is available on the Greenwich Swim Committee website.

Runners have their options on Saturday, too. In Norwalk, the second race in the Lightfoot Summer Series begins at 8 a.m. at Cranbury Elementary School. The Westport Summer Series continues with its second race, a 3.1-mile event beginning at 8 a.m. at Longshore.

Young runners have their own race on Saturday. Wakeman Boys and Girls Club hosts a 2-mile race for children in grades 3-12 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit Action Against Hunger. More information is available on the Wakeman website.
