NORWALK, Conn. Darien National rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to defeat Rowayton, 3-2, in the District 1 Little League Tournament.
Rowayton finished pool play 0-4. Andrew Matthews shut out Darien on two hits until he reached the 85-pitch limit in the fifth inning. Jack Feinstein relieved him, and two errors helped Darien piece together the winning rally in the sixth.
Matthews struck out six and walked four. He also delivered a two-out hit in the fifth to give Rowayton a 2-0 lead. Ethan Blattman, Jack Dove and Feinstein reached base before Matthews delivered a two-run single.
Max Chermayeff had two hits for Rowayton, while Conor Belcastro, Jack Dove and Griffin Root also helped Rowayton outhit Darien, 8-3.
