Fairfield American lost to Cumberland American Little League of Rhode Island, 10-6, at Breen Field in Bristol on Saturday evening.
Cumberland American was crowned the New England Regional champion and is now headed to Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Earlier in the tournament, Fairfield American suffered its only loss Sunday night to New Hampshire-Goffstown Junior Baseball Little League, 4-2. But Fairfield American topped Williston, Vt., 9-4, on Friday night and followed that up with a 10-0 victory Saturday over Falmouth, Maine.
Westport won the New England title last year, and Connecticut teams had won four of the last six New England titles. American last won in 2012.
Fairfield American swept South Windsor in the best-of-three Connecticut championship series, winning by scores of 10-0 and 12-2.
Fairfield American’s roster is Ian Bentley, Vince Camera, Sam Davenport, PJ Egan, Jamie Flink, Trey Hensel, Brian Howell, Brian Kiremidjian, Connor O'Neill, John Reynolds and Jack Steed. Mike Steed is the manager, assisted by Pete Davenport and Keith Reynolds. Most of the boys were on the American team that won the 11-year-old state championship in 2013.
