Ponus Ridge Boys Complete Perfect Season

The Ponus Ridge Middle School boys basketball team completed an undefeated season with a 52-35 victory at West Rocks. Ponus clinched the 2011 Norwalk middle school title with the win, which improved its record to 6-0.

Ponus erased any doubts of an upset when it jumped out to a 12-4 first-quarter lead and extended it to 26-8 by halftime.

Tim Hinton continued to be the Ponus leader, scoring 13 points and nabbing nearly every defensive rebound within reach. Kentrell Snyder led Ponus in scoring with 14 points, 12 in the first half, and controlled the game from his point guard position.

Other leading scorers were David Daniel with seven and Tyron Mack with six. Edwin Owalo, Paul Salata and Andrew Humphries tallied four each. Stephen Enoch and Javed Wright added one point each, and Andre Roberts played a great all-around game off the bench. Team member Trey Newcombe was unable to play due to an injury in the previous game.
