Poll: Should the NYC Marathon Be Run Sunday?

NEW YORK, N.Y. ? Mayor Michael Bloomberg and sponsors of the ING New York City Marathon have responded to critics seeking postponement of the race by dedicating the event to the communities and families impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The race will take place Sunday as scheduled, beginning in Staten Island.

Daily Voice readers have been voting on whether the marathon should be run in view of the ongoing recovery effort. Fifty-six percent say the race should be run after the city has recovered, 22 percent say it should be run next week and 22 percent want the race to run as scheduled.
