Obi leads Greens Farms Over Rye CD

Sean Obi’s 37 points and 18 rebounds and an intense team defensive effort paced Greens Farms Academy to a 60-48 win over Rye Country Day Wednesday in a Fairchester Athletic Association game in Westport. RCD had beaten the Dragons (3-3) earlier in the season.

Dan Chase scored 15 first-half points and Hunter Eggers scored eight while dishing out a team-high five assists. The big difference, however, was defense.

Using a 12-man rotation, GFA held Rye Country Day to 20 points in the second half, a season-low for one half. Eric Walsh and Will Pavlis started the game, but were able to switch in and out with C.J. Smith and Brien Comey without missing a beat. Christian Papic brought energy and toughness, which enabled Chase to keep his shooting legs fresh. In the second half, the Dragons switched schemes, unleashing the fresh legs of Kam Mickens, Dan Hoffman and Wills Rooney in full-court pressure.

GFA hosts Brunswick Saturday at 5 p.m. GFA defeated Brunswick, 55-52, earlier in the season. The game is being called "Pack the House," and the GFA student body has solicited charity donors to pledge money on the basis of spectator attendance.
