Norwalk's Shore & Country 3rd At County Swim Meet

NORWALK, Conn. – Shore and Country Club of Norwalk won just one event but took third place overall this past weekend at the Fairfield County Swim League Championships. Shore and Country finished with 723.5 team points.

Guido Balderrama was the only swimmer from Shore and Country to win an individual event, taking the boys 14-and-under 50-meter butterfly in 27.80 seconds.

Rocky Point Swim and Tennis Club of Greenwich and meet host Roxbury Club of Stamford soon pulled away from the field. Rocky Point went on to dethrone 19-time champion Roxbury with a score of 1106.5 points.

A number of second and third place finishes kept Shore and Country in the running. The team also entered the meet with 20 points thanks to a Kevin Bradley win in the boys 10-and-under 1-meter dive earlier in the week.

The boys 200-meter freestyle relay team ended the day on a positive note for Shore and Country. Guido Balderrama, Lucas Balderrama, Joshue Balderrama and Edwards Stolarski finished second with a time of 1:58.79.

Other notable finishes for Shore and Country included: Guido Balderrama (2nd, boys 14-and-under 100-meter individual medley, 2nd, boys 14-and-under 50-meter freestyle); Lucas Balderrama (2nd, boys 10-and-under 25-meter breaststroke); Joshue Balderrama (3rd, boys 12-and-under 50-meter butterfly); Eddie Donovan (3rd, boys 14-and-under 50-meter butterfly); Caroline O'Brien (3rd, girls 17-and-under 50-meter butterfly); Henry Tiernan (3rd, boys 8-and-under 25-meter breaststroke), and Stephen Holmquist (2nd, boys 17-and-under 100-meter individual medley, 2nd, boys 17-and-under 50-meter backstroke, 3rd, boys 17-and-under 50-meter breaststroke).

Spencer Erickson of the Rowayton-based Roton Point Club won the boys 10-and-under 50-meter freestyle with a time of 32.61 seconds.
