Norwalk Tops Weston in LL Finale

Norwalk wrapped up pool play in the District 1 Little League tournament Tuesday night with a 10-0 victory over Weston. Norwalk finished the tournament 3-3. It did not advance to the elimination round.

Corey Hayes pitched a complete-game and hit a home run to lead Norwalk, which broke the game open with six runs in the third inning. Danny Romanello ripped two hits, scored two runs and collected three RBIs. BJ Buckle hit a two-run double in the third.

Weston finished 1-5 in the tournament. Reed Monges, Jack Sacane, Andrew Clark and Jack Seigentholer picked up hits.

The semifinals are set for Thursday in the tournament. National Lione will meet Springdale at 5:45 p.m. at Caporizzo Field in Stamford, while North Stamford will meet Darien National at 5:45 p.m. at Noto Field.

In other games Tuesday night, National Lione defeated Wilton, 9-1 and Darien American topped Ridgefield American, 11-0 in pool A games. In pool B, Springdale edged Darien National, 13-12, in a battle of unbeaten teams; Stamford American defeated Federal, 21-8; and Ridgefield National blanked Stamford Northrop, 6-0.
