Norwalk River Rowing Grabs 6 Medals at N.J. Meet

NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk River Rowing Association won one gold medal, two silvers and three bronze medals in its opening regatta of the spring last weekend at the Princeton National Rowing Association's Mercer Sprints.

Norwalk River Rowing won a gold medal in the Men's Lightweight 4x with David Sullivan, Matt Koenigsberg, Stefan Petreski and Kyle Mikesh.

Alex Nicoll and Jon Massari won a silver in the Men's Lightweight 2X, and the Men's Varsity Lightweight 4+ grabbed second with Hugh Woodworth, Alex Nicol, Jon Massari, Joe Blake and Matt Stout.

Petreski and Mikesh won bronze in the Men's Lightweight 2X. Other bronze medalists included the Men's 2nd Varsity 2x Flight 2 team of Hugh Woodworth and Willem Taverna; the Men's Varsity Lightweight 4x Flight 2 team of Chad Ballard, Joe Blake, James Koenigsberg and Jon Massari; and the Women's Varsity 4+ crew of Kylie O'Connor, Allison Hoffmann, Emma Vergara, Madeleine "Moody" Apuzzo and Caroline Arnold.

Rowing clubs from all over the Northeast and beyond competed in the two-day regatta, which took place on Mercer Lake near Princeton, N.J.

Norwalk River Rowing recruits athletes from several towns, including Stamford, Norwalk, Wilton, Westport, Pound Ridge and Darien.
