Norwalk Looks for Another Upset

Coming off its stunning opening week win over Greenwich, Norwalk High School looks for another upset Friday night when it hosts Staples High at 7 p.m.

The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference matchup kicks off week two of the high school football season. Staples is also 1-0 after beating Trinity Catholic, 31-16, in its season opener. Staples is ranked No. 3 in the state in a sports writers' poll and No. 4 in a coaches' poll.

In other games Friday night involving FCIAC schools, Brien McMahon hosts Harding of Bridgeport at 7:30. Both teams are 0-1. First-year coach A.J. Albano hopes to guide the Senators to his first career win.

Also Friday, Stamford travels to Greenwich; Westhill visits Trumbull; Darien takes on Danbury; and Fairfield Ludlowe hosts Ridgefield. All of those games begin at 7 p.m. Fairfield Prep hosts Griswold in a nonleague game at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Trinity Catholic meets New Canaan in an FCIAC contest. Wilton travels to St. Joseph at 1:30 for another FCIAC clash. In a nonleague game, Fairfield Warde visits Prince Tech. In the South West Conference, Notre Dame of Fairfield visits Weston at 1 p.m. In private school games, King hosts Hamden Hall at 11 a.m. Saturday; St. Luke's travels to East Haven at 7 p.m. Friday and Brunswick visits Taft at 2 p.m. Saturday.
