FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. The Norwalk-based Everton America under-13 boys soccer team won the Manhattan Soccer Club Kick-Off Classic last weekend in New York, including a 5-1 win over World Class FC in the championship game.
Everon went 1-1-1 in in the group stage, and fell behind World Class 1-0 in the final. Everton responded quickly, with three goals from Chris Was and one each from Austin De Silva and Cameron Okoro.
The tournament included top teams, including the New York Cosmos, New York Soccer Club and that nations highest-ranked U13 team, SDFC of New Jersey.
The boys will train with Paul Harris, the international football development officer for Everton America, during the next 10 days. The boys also received an encouraging video from United States soccer Tim Howard prior to their win in New York.
Team members include Scott Uitterdijk, Wilton; Jonny Schuster, Fairfield; Julian Stifano, Bethel; Nolan Marino, Killingworth; Will Marment, Stamford; Noah Hilt, New Canaan; Elvis Rodriguez, Stratford; Bruno Aguillon, Trumbull; Austin De Silva and Ian Richling, Weston; Harrison Gill, Darien; Biagio Paoletta, Fairfield; Jake Silverstein, Weston; Murray Riach, Weston; Roger Marment, Stamford; Alex Cunliffe, Norwalk; Cameron Okoro, Weston; Ben Silverstein, Weston; Chris Watts, New Milford; Jack Brandt, Wilton; Julian Stifano, Bethel and Nolan Marino, Killingworth. Weston's Nik Parker missed the tournament with an injury.
