Norwalk 9s Split First 2 In State Ripken Tourney

NORWALK, Conn. — The Norwalk Cal Ripken 9-year-old All-Stars went 1-1 during the first two rounds of the Connecticut State Tournament this past weekend in New Milford.

Newtown beat Norwalk in the first game, 16-6. Norwalk stayed alive in the losers bracket with a 15-5 win over Hebron.

Norwalk scored five runs in the first inning before Newtown stormed back with seven runs in the bottom of the first.  Norwalk had trouble putting much together after that, scoring only one more run while Newtown put the game away with an eight-run fourth inning.

Norwalk had a big first inning against Hebron as well, scoring five runs to take an early lead. Norwalk scored in every inning thereafter and coasted to the win.

Norwalk meets Danbury in a losers bracket game Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. in New Milford.
