New Canaan Rolls Past Norwalk

New Canaan's High School's lacrosse team has been one of the premier teams in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference for the better part of 30 years. Saturday afternoon against Norwalk, the Rams showed they will be a force in the league again this year.

Scott O'Brien scored three goals while Pat Ryan and Oliver Norton had two apiece as the Rams (4-0)  rolled to a 14-4 victory over the Bears. Clifton Prophete scored two goals for Norwalk (1-3) while Chrs Keel and Steve Grimm had one apiece.

"They are one of the top teams in the state for a reason,'' Norwalk coach Chris McGee said. "They play well together."

Norwalk fell behind 8-0 at halftime and had a brief flurry in the third and fourth periods where it drew closer, but New Canaan simply had too many weapons.

"You need to see what you have to work on when you play teams like New Canaan,'' McGee said. "You'll never be a team like New Canaan or Darien without putting in the work. The days we take off, they are out there working and getting that much better."
