New Baseball Programs Start at Y

Several new baseball programs will be starting this week at the Norwalk YMCA. They will be led by Peter Convard, the Y's membership director and new baseball instructor.

An introduction to baseball skills for players ages 5-8. It will run from 2-3 p.m. in the main gym and cover proper skills for hitting, throwing, catching and fielding. The program costs $85 for members and $125 for non-members.

Hitting 101 is for players ages 10-13. It will touch on all aspects of the swing, and Convard and his instructors will break down the swing into mechanical movements and how each movement is performed. It will run from 8-9 a.m. in the main gym and the cost is $85 for members, $125 for non-members.

Winning Baseball, for players ages 9-13, will teach skills for players who want to advance beyond Little League. Players must have experience in an organized league. The session runs from 3-4 p.m. in the main gym. The cost is $85 for members and $125 for non-members.
