Moms Enjoy Walk in the Park

Sisters Caramarie Carboni and Stephanie DeYoung made quick work of their Mother's Day walk at Calf Pasture Beach Sunday in Norwalk. They were the first ones to cross the finish line in the 5-kilometer Health Walk. The event was in conjunction with the 33rd Mother's Day 10K.

Carboni pushed her 11-month old son Ronan in a baby jogger around the 3.1-mile course. A very-much pregnant Stephanie cruised with her as they briskly walked around the 3.1 mile course in about 45 minutes. They finished just a few minutes before their husbands, David Carboni and Bryan DeYoung, completed the 6.2 mile run.

"It was a nice way to start Mother's Day,'' said Caramarie, who lives with her husband in Seymour. The chilly weather, complete with wind gusts that blew down poles that straddled the finish line, didn't bother the ladies. "We were hot by the end,'' said Stephanie, who lives with her husband in Norwalk.

This is the second year the walk has been associated with the race, which is presented by the Lightfoot Running Club and the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department. Proceeds from the walk benefit the Norwalk Senior Center.
