Miss Porter's School of Farmington took an early 9-0 lead and went on to defeat Greens Farms Academy, 51-35, in a non-league girls basketball game Wednesday in Westport. The loss snapped the Dragons' six-game winning streak.
Steph Garofoli scored 10 points to lead GFA, which fell to 13-5 overall. The Dragons are tied with Hamden Hall atop the Fairchester Athletic Association with a 6-1 league mark. Jenna Pittleman added 10 and Alexa Sullivan scored seven for GFA.
GFA, which held its last three opponents less than 30 points, couldn't slow Miss Porter's until the second half. The Dragons made adjustments and outscored Miss Porter's by five points in the second half.
Pittleman did an especially great job of finding her way to the basket, weaving through the defense. Senior Allie Kruk and freshman Caroline Kruk also played strong games, as both tenaciously pulled down many rebounds.
GFA travels to Wooster in Danbury on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tipoff. The Dragons also have a key FAA game next Tuesday against league co-leader Hamden Hall.
