Meyer, Heaphy Win Buildup 15K

Ridgefield's Luke Meyer won the men's race and Norwalk's Julie Heaphy made it two straight wins in the women's field in the Boston Buildup 15-kilometer run Sunday in Ridgefield. The race had 282 finishers, the second highest total in the 33-year history of the event.

Meyer, a former star at Ridgefield High School, covered the 9.3-mile course in 52:02. New Haven's Chris Hague took second in 54:30, followed by Norwalk's Eneas Freyre in 55:41.

Heaphy ran 1:01:45, followed by Anja Krieger-Redwood of Cos Cob in 1:03:57 and Val Matena of Greenwich in 1:04:42.

The race was delayed a week because of the cold. Sunday's race was officially measured at 9.64 miles, about three-tenths of a mile longer than the intended distance. The third race in the four-race series will be the 20K on Feb. 13 at the Southport Railroad Station. Complete results and registration information is available at clubct.org
