McMahon's Girls Stopped by Darien

McMahon's girls lacrosse team outscored Darien 6-5 Tuesday night. That was the good news for the Senators, who lost 18-7 despite the strong second half. The Senators (2-6-1 overall, 2-5-1 in the FCIAC) had difficulty stopping Darien's high-powered attack.

"They're a really good team, '' McMahon coach Tory Sullivan said. "We made them earn it. They had to work hard for this one." Deven Machette and Katie Hammer had three goals apiece for the Senators.

"Darien is a tough team, and the girls kept playing hard,'' Sullivan said. "They stuck together and I saw a level of play that I liked from my team." McMahon has five games left in the regular season and Sullivan believes the team has some victories coming its way. "They girls are going to keep working hard to get there,'' Sullivan said. "We're adding a few more things every week."

Senior attack Lanning McDonald had five goals and two assists to lead Darien, while Ann Fucigna had four goals. Cali Ceglarski added a pair for Darien. The Blue Wave are 11-0 in the FCIAC and 11-2 overall, with both losses to teams from New York state.
