McMahon-Stamford Kicks Off Weekend

Brien McMahon kicks off against Stamford Friday at 3:30 p.m. to start the third week of the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference football season. The game time was moved up earlier this week and will be played at Stamford's Boyle Stadium. Both teams have first-year coaches. A.J. Albano won his first career game for McMahon by knocking off Harding. Stamford's Bryan Hocter is still seeking his first win.

Also on Friday, two undefeated teams tangle when Staples visits Ridgefield for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Wreckers are ranked ninth in the latest poll by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association. Ridgefield is ranked eighth and has been impressive in outscoring opponents 80-7 in the first two games of the season.

Also Friday night, Norwalk visits Trumbull, Fairfield Ludlowe is at New Canaan and Fairfield Warde hosts Bassick. Those games begin at 7.

An intra-city battle in Stamford highlights Saturday's schedule. Trinity Catholic hosts Westhill at Alumni Field. Darien (2-0) puts its unbeaten season on the line against St. Joseph in a 1:30 kickoff in Darien. Greenwich travels to Harding for a 1:30 contest, and Wilton plays a non-league game at New London at 1 p.m.

In games outside the FCIAC, Weston travels to Brookfield Friday at 7 p.m.; Notre Dame of Fairfield visits Joel Barlow on Friday at 7; and Fairfield Prep is at Wilbur Cross Friday at 4 p.m.

In private school football games on Saturday, King hosts Westminster School at 3:30 p.m., St. Luke's hosts Rye Country Day at 3 p.m. and Brunswick hosts Avon Old Farms at 2:30 p.m.
