Lennox Cooks Up Win in Greenwich Buns Run

Daniel Lennox was the winner of the Whole Foods Cook Your Buns Run & BBQ 3-mile race last week at Tod's Point in Old Greenwich.

Lennox, 31, from Bedford, N.Y., had a time of 15 minutes, 19 seconds to come in first out of the 412 finishers.

Victor Dahl, 18, of Greenwich was runner-up at 15:27, and Stamford's Anatolie Vartosu, 43, placed third at 15:44.

Jeff Eades, 30, placed fourth and won his Men 39-39 age division in 16:22, while Stamford's Jeff Watson, 28, took fifth with 16:24 and won the Men 20-29 age division.

The rest of the top 10 included Peter Kapp (16:31), Elias Hubbert (16:38), Greenwich's Matt Yardis (16:42), Stamford's Patrick Mulvany (17:06, winner of Men 40-49) and Stamford's Devin Dixon (17:10).

Liz Herbert, 42, of Darien was the first woman and 15th overall with an 18:02.

Camille Matonis, 18, of Greenwich was the female runner-up and 19th overall with an 18:41. Meredith Kalish, 35, of Greenwich had an 18:46, placing third among women and 21st overall.

There was also an accompanying 1-Mile Kids' Race that included many youngsters, all of whom received a medal at the finish line.

The Cook Your Buns 3-mile race was the fourth event in the 10-race Volvo of Stamford Greenwich Cup series.

The Greenwich Point Swim, the fifth event in the series, begins at 7:30 a.m. on July 9. The 1-mile swim takes place at Tod's Point.

The pre-entry fee for the Greenwich Point Swim is $40 for entries postmarked by July 1 and $50 thereafter. The fee is $20 for participants 18 and under.

The Volvo of Stamford Greenwich Cup Triathlon takes place Aug. 7 at Tod's Point, beginning at 6:30 a.m. The triathlon begins with a half-mile swim, followed by a 15-mile bicycle ride and a 3-mile run. The early entry fee is $79 for entries postmarked by July 1 and $89 thereafter.
