STAMFORD, Conn. With a 21-12 win over the Hackley School of Tarrytown, N.Y., the King School Vikings have now won two in a row. At 3-2, they are back above .500 for the first time in two years.
Due to injuries, many King players took on different roles. When safety Logan McCullough went down, John McAllister stepped in and did a great job. CJ Jones moved back to strong safety when Zach Mullhern was hurt during the week and did a remarkable job. Jack Careccia started at mid-linebacker and played excellent football. Russell Lange stepped in as the nickel-back in the fourth quarter and kept Hackley from throwing in the middle of the field.
Joey Santoro went for more than 300 yards on the ground, making a case for being the best football player in the Fairchester Athletic Association. Kevin Peabody once again showed his development as a quarterback as he guided the offense up and down the field, taking what the defense gave him and making the proper throws. The offensive line played well and was instrumental in gaining more than 400 yards of total offense.
King's defense played its best game of the year, giving up only 12 points. The defensive line of Anthony Spadaccini, Tyler LaVecchia, Gilbert Francois and Desmond Hague had five sacks and pressured the Hackley quarterback. The linebackers and secondary all played well, making the key big plays.
