Brien McMahons boys basketball season ended Tuesday night with a 70-64 setback to Holy Cross in the first round of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class LL tournament. Lamar Tate scored 16 points and Tyler Shular scored 13 for the 24th-seeded Senators, who finish their season 11-10.
Holy Cross (18-5), the no. 9 seed, led most of the way and built a 38-32 halftime lead. The score was tied several times in the fourth period, but cold shooting and foul trouble hampered the Senators down the stretch. Ryan Kolbs 18 points led Holy Cross.
