Greenwich Pro Returns to PGA Championship

HERSHEY, Pa. -- Greenwich golf pro Danny Balin has qualified for the PGA Championship for the second year in a row. Balin, who is featured in Main Street Connect’s Golf Tip of the Week, just made the cut last year, but this time he did it in record-breaking fashion. The 29-year-old pro shot a course record 63 (-8) in the final round of the PGA Professional National Championship.

Balin got off to a rocky start, shooting a 75 in the first round and putting himself in danger of missing the cut. He pulled back even after the second round and finished the third day at one-under. He then jumped up 30 spots on the leaderboard with his record fourth round, finishing fourth overall in the tournament. Balin sank six birdies and an eagle in his final round.

He will compete in the PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga., starting Aug. 11. A teaching professional at Burning Tree Country Club, Balin will be back soon on Main Street Connect sites with more tips for your golf game.
