Greenwich Meets Unbeaten Trumbull

Greenwich High School's football team takes a three-game winning streak into a showdown with undefeated Trumbull Friday at 7 p.m. in Greenwich as the marquee game in this weekend's high school football lineup.

The Cardinals (3-1) have regrouped after a season-opening loss to Norwalk. Since that game, Greenwich has outscored Stamford, Harding and Danbury by a combined margin of 76-7. Trumbull (4-0) is having its best season since 2005, when it finished 10-2 overall and 9-1 in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The Golden Eagles have outscored opponents 143-21 and have one of the league's top quarterbacks in Ian Milne.

Also Friday, Stamford hosts Danbury at 6 p.m. Members of its state championship teams from the 1950s will be honored at halftime. In other action Friday, Brien McMahon hosts Central at 7 p.m. New Canaan hosts Seymour in a non-league game at 7 p.m. In the South-West Conference, Joel Barlow hosts Brookfield at 7 p.m. and in the Southern Connecticut Conference, Fairfield Prep travels to Xavier of Middletown at 7 p.m.

In FCIAC games on Saturday, Darien travels to Trinity Catholic at 1 p.m. Norwalk meets Fairfield Ludlowe at 3 p.m., and Wilton hosts Fairfield Warde at 4 p.m. Weston hosts Pomperaug at 2 p.m. and Notre Dame of Fairfield hosts Newtown in a 7 p.m. game in the South-West Conference.

In private school contests on Saturday, King travels to Kingswood-Oxford at 3 p.m., St. Luke's hosts Perkiomen School of Pennsylvania at 1 p.m. and Brunswick travels to meet Berkshire at 2 p.m. in Massachusetts.
