STAMFORD, Conn. Greenwich High School lacrosse coach Scott Bulkley will become the director of lacrosse at Chelsea Piers Connecticut when it opens next June in Stamford.
Bulkley, a former Darien High School lacrosse star, has dedicated the past 10 years to coaching high school and club lacrosse programs in Fairfield County. Bulkley was one of Fairfield County's most decorated lacrosse players at Darien and went on to become the captain of the University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team, winning three league titles while he played there.
Bulkley will run the lacrosse program at the new Chelsea Piers. Programming will include lacrosse instruction, a competitive club team, and competitive and recreational league play for youth and adult. The facility will be feature one of Connecticut's largest indoor turf facilities 100 yards by 55 yards an indoor running track, high-end athletic training facilities, locker rooms and more.
"With Scott's impressive coaching and playing resume as well as his vast knowledge of youth lacrosse in this area, we think he is the perfect person to lead our extensive lacrosse program. We couldn't be more pleased to welcome him to our team," said Mollie Marcoux, executive director of Chelsea Piers.
Bulkley is heading into his third year as the Greenwich High School boys varsity lacrosse head coach. He was an associate head coach at Darien for six years before taking over at Greenwich.
Chelsea Piers Connecticut is a 400,000-square-foot sports and recreation facility located just off Interstate 95 at Exit 9. Chelsea Piers Connecticut will consist of seven core sports facilities encompassing more than 18 sports.
The facility will include facilities for skating, gymnastics, cheerleading, baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, football, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, tennis and squash.
Like Chelsea Piers New York, Chelsea Piers Connecticut will combine athletic facilities with an extensive array of professional instructors and league programs for youths, teens and adults.
In addition to these sport offerings, it will also be home to a child care facility, food service and a pro shop for equipment needs.
