Greens Farms Baseball Picks Up First Win

The Greens Farms Academy baseball team posted its first win of the season Saturday with a 13-3 win in five innings over Masters. It was the Dragons' first victory on their new home baseball field.

Junior Thatcher Gleason of Darien pitched all five innings for the Dragons, giving up just six hits and three earned runs. Senior Spencer Traver of Easton led the offensive explosion, going two-for-three with a triple, grand slam and five RBIs. Senior Henry Van Zant of Westport also had two hits, including a double, four stolen bases and four runs scored. Sophomore Jonah Singer of Norwalk went two-for-two with two runs scored, while junior Christian Papic of Darien had an RBI triple for GFA. Sophomore Brian Dexheimer of Westport had a double and two RBIs for the Dragons.

GFA began its season with a 12-6 loss to King. Papic had two hits, including a triple. The Dragons also fell to Millbrook, 11-10. Van Zant went two-for-three with a double and two runs scored. Seniors Rex Tavello of Fairfield and Spencer Traver of Easton also had two hits for the Dragons. Junior Brien Comey of Westport had a double and three RBIs. GFA is back in action Tuesday against St. Luke's at 4:15 p.m.
