Norwalk Girls Lacrosse Opens States at Greenwich

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - Girls' lacrosse teams from Fairfield County are hoping to replicate last year's success in this season's state tournaments, which begin today. Greenwich, Darien and Weston all took home the state championship in their respective class in 2011 and area teams are poised to make deep runs in the playoffs again.

Teams in the playoffs from the Fairfield County readership area of the Daily Voice are listed below. The first- and second-round games will be played at the higher-seeded team's home field. The semifinals will be played at a neutral site and the championship games will be played at Bunnell High School in Stratford.

Class L Tournament (all games begin at 5 p.m.)

#3 Greenwich (13-2) vs. #19 Norwalk (8-9)

#4 Staples (13-3) vs. #13 West Haven (8-8)

#9 Stamford (11-5) at #8 Ridgefield (11-5)

#11 Fairfield Ludlowe (9-6) at #6 Simsbury (12-3)

Class M Tournament (all games begin at 5 p.m.)

#1 New Canaan (15-0) vs. #16 Daniel Hand (8-9)

#3 Wilton (13-3) vs. #14 Berlin (7-8)

#6 Joel Barlow (12-4) vs. #11 Windsor (8-6-1)

#9 Darien (10-5) at #8 Guilford (12-4)

Class S Tournament

#3 Weston vs. #14 Sacred Heart Academy (8-7-1), 5 p.m.
