With just one week remaining before the FCIAC finals, one of the teams on a collision course with the title game received some devastating news. Staples announced that quarterback Chet Pajolek sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL. Backup quarterback Jack Massie will try to lead the Wreckers (8-0) to their second straight FCIAC title. They have their biggest test of the season on their hands Saturday when Trumbull (7-1) comes to town. Trinity Catholic head coach Pete Stokes is at home recovering from an emergency heart procedure. According to published reports, Stokes underwent a three-hour procedure in Manhattan to have a pacemaker and defibrillator implanted. He is expected to make a full recovery.
